Stellaluna

Matt's 1st grade class preformed the play Stellaluna. Matt was the baby bird, Flitter, and his buddy was the owl. If you aren't familier with the story check or the children's book. Matt was so proud and it was a really cute and well done production!
By the way, I'm attempting this post from my phone do we'll see what happens!

This is Why I Have Not Blogged in Awhile!

Rock Climbing at Ciclavia in LA.  We rode the Metro from Palmdale to Union Station in LA with our bikes.  Major streets in the middle of the city were closed to cars and open to bikes! We rode from Union Station to McAurther Park.  The park was set up like a festival with a climbing wall.   We rode 10 miles total!!  I ran with the stroller so Melea could nap.  When she wasn't in the stroller she was "helping" Karl ride his bike.
Micah made it to the top!
 Melea "helping" daddy!
The boys are playing basketball through the YMCA.  It is really relaxed and low key!  Can you tell these two kids are related?  Melea looks so much like Karl in this picture.
Melea has caught on to basketball from watching the boys.  She carries the ball to the hoop then stands there screaming for help until someone lifts her up so she can make a basket!
Jeanette came to visit a few weeks ago and we went for a run/bike ride on the aqueduct.
CLU Homecoming!  It wasn't the same without Clark there.  He is off working hard at Loma Linda.  Apparently he is surviving the first year of med school well!

CC Graduates!

Happy Mother's Day to me!  The boys and I rode over to my parents house this morning.  My grandma and was visiting and made her famous crepes!  Yummy!  The boys and Karl got new bikes last weekend and we gave them a good test today.  Matt and Micah did great riding the 3 mils to my parents house.  We stopped for a few water breaks but they did awesome!  We have to figure out Melea's bike seat so we can go as a family next time.  Karl tried to put her seat on his bike last night but couldn't figure it out completely...I guess that is what we get for getting a baby bike seat at the Salvation Army!!
Our graduate!  We didn't attend the graduation...it would have been torture for everyone trying to get 5 kids to sit though a 3 hour ceremony!  We met CC after then went to a great lunch at Bucca di Beppo.  Clark is off to med school in Aug.  He is an all around good guy!  I'm sure he gets sick of hearing that but selfishly I am so glad he can be such an awesome example for my kids!  How many 22 year old dudes would be willing to pose for a picture like this?!
The bridge at CLU!  Yippee CC graduated!! Congratulations!
We went to Disneyland a few weeks ago for Luke's 5th birthday!  Micah LOVED driving the cars!
Matt lived out his dream and was chosen for Jedi Training.. After fighting Darth Vader he gave a powerful force push to these clone troopers!
Happy 5th birthday Luke!  We love you buddy!  I hope you remember pieces of this special day and smile!  You are an awesome little man!

Recap!

I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted! So much has happened! Matt's birthday was March 15. We had a party for him the weekend before. He had a Wild Kratt's party! The kids performed "creature challenges" to earn various"creature powers." It was a hit! I made creature power suits for the kids and they had fun earning their creature powers! On Matt's birthday we went to Vegas to celebrate Jeanette's early birthday. She and Karl ran a half marathon together! It was Jeanette's first half marathon and despite the windy conditions she did great! Karl really enjoyed running with his mom! It was a memorable experience for them!GO GRANDMA and DADDY!!!

Justin (who earned his kangaroo power the day before by jumping/falling off a big trapoline and breaking his arm), Cole, Micah, Cidney, Max, Matt, Enrique, Luke, and Joey
My big 6 year old! It is so hard to believe 6 years ago Karl and I experienced the scariest moment of our lives...our little boy being rushed to the NICU. He stayed for 4 weeks growing and learing to eat and breath. Last month I planned his dream party, Wild Kratts! Someday when you read this Matt, I hope you smile at the memory of your birthday party! We played cheetah tag, wrapped up in toliet paper and emerged as butterflies, jumped off a trapoline to be like a kangaroo and went to the neighbors house and saw their giant African turtles. Favorite gifts included a watch, legos, beyblades, robe, books, and pajamas. When in Vegas we took Matt to the hospital where he spent his first month. We took some baby blankets with a note from Matt to give to some of the NICU babies that share his birthday. It was such a strange feeling riding the elevator and walking up to the NICU. Our family has grown so much and in so many ways since 2006...In my wildest dreams I never thought I would bring my SIX year old son and his brother and sister back to that NICU!
Family picture at church...they boys were reluctant to participate in this picture because we tore them away from the Easter games! It was quite a challage to occupy two boys hopped up on sugar and a little girl who missed her nap during church! I think Karl and I can handle about anything!
The Easter Bunny came to my parents house! We took this same picture last year but it wasn't complete...Melea wasn't in it. Looks pretty good now!

Micah and Sofia

Micah brought Sofia home from preschool this weekend! She goes home with a different child each weekend. Micah took good care of Sofia and she participated in all our weekend activities. This evening we added to the journal that Sofia came with. We added these pictures and Micah drew a picture of Sofia and himself walking.
Sofia went to CLU with my dad, Karl and Matt to see Clark and watch a baseball game.
Sofia LOVES blueberry pancakes!
Sofia stayed cozy with Micah at night in his bed.

Can you spot the little girl??

CA Science Center

The boys were pretending to be news anchors.
Karl and the boys experimented with Dominos.
Micah is ready to blast off!
A big fan is blowing air to simulate how airplanes fly.
Jason and Karissa are friends we met in Vegas. They moved to Wisconsin around the same time we moved to CA. They have a daughter who is 4 and another little girl due in May. They were in town visiting Karissa's brother and his family. It was great to see them. It is fun to reminisce about our pre-kid days in Vegas!
Melea is a little trouper! She would hang out for a few hours then sleep for 30 min in the stroller. She did this all day! We were at the Science Center from 10am - 5pm and she didn't really get fussy until the drive home. She is such a good little girl! She figured out how to crawl this week. Karl and Micah were playing Go Fish on Tuesday and Melea HAD to taste the cards! She made it half way across our living room to get to the Go Fish cards.

Family Night O' Fun!

We had another busy weekend. The Fitchs, my parents and our family put on a huge yard sale at our house on Sat and Sun. It was extremely successful! Feels so good to be be rid of some of the junk we had in the garage. Our neighborhood is doing another one in March so we saved the leftovers to try and sell next month. After the next sale our garage will look awesome!!
Matt went on his first field trip last week. They went to see Beauty and the Beast at the Performing Arts Center. Matt's piano teacher played the organ for the show. Matt really enjoyed it. This was also his first school bus ride. We talked about it the night before and he was nervous about the bus because he wouldn't have a seat belt. Matt said he started to get nervous during the field trip but then stopped and decided he was actually having fun! After I dropped Micah off at school I saw all the buses pulling away from Matt's school and I cried. How did my little boy get so big?
Micah started gymnastics last week. He LOVES it!! He has been asking everyday when he gets to go again. We did a trial class and didn't even need to go home to talk about if we should sign up for classes. Micah had a huge smile and was bouncing around during the class so after it was over we went right up to the front desk to sign up! So now Matt's special activity is piano and Micah has gymnastics.
Matt brought home a flyer for t-ball. He saw me looking at the paper and asked,"Did you sign me up for t-ball?" I said, "No not yet, but I can if you want to play." Matt quickly said, "No thanks, I don't want to do that." Hmmm...I can respect that but team sports are so important...Matt is off the hook this year but he will probably have to play next year!
Karl took this video of Melea while I was at work this morning.

So here is a glimpse into a typical evening in the Stutelberg home.

Lea loves her bath! I think the days of her bathing in the kitchen sink are coming to an end. I am tired of mopping up water all over the kitchen after her baths!

This is bouncing Micah!

The Karl and Matt Show!

Oh, one more thing...Matt will proudly tell you he has the longest last name in his class! He is also one of the few kids who can spell and write their last name! I hear this is not uncommon among Stutelberg boys. Apparently it was the same for Karl! Micah is also learning to spell our last name. We turned it into a song STU TEL BERG Cha Cha Cha!

Our Colorado Ski Trip

Wow- it has been a long time since I have blogged.
We had an amazing trip in CO at the beginning of the month. We drove to Vegas and spent a few days with family before continuing on to the cabin in CO. Karl's grandma was able to visit while we were there. We hadn't seen her for almost 2 years! We had a great time skiing and spending time with family while in CO. My parents, the Fitchs and my brother were also there. All 3 boys had a great time skiing. Our boys took ski lessons the first day and Karl skied with them the next day. Both boys were able to ski and make turns down the beginner hill!

Micah, Matt and Karl's brother's son Brayden.
I made the cousins matching pjs for Christmas!
My brother and Melea
My grandma and Melea hung out in the cabin most of the week!
Louise, My dad, Lydia, Melea and I packed up luch at the cabin and took it to the hungry skiers!!
Karl and Matt
Karl had a great time skiing with the boys. Matt responds very well to a "teacher" other than his parents and Micah is the opposite. Micah made much more progress skiing when Karl was teaching him.
Luke and Micah
Daddy and his little girl at the Green River Park on the drive to CO.
Melea was so cozy while she watched her brothers ski. She is such a good little girl. Poor baby was so tired in this picture. We had been standing at the base of the hill for over an hour while Karl took turns skiing with the boys!
